Cook County GOP Chairman Congratulates Bruce Rauner on Primary Election Victory, Calls for Unity

Chicago, IL – Cook County Republican Party Chairman Sean M. Morrison would like to congratulate Governor Bruce Rauner on his successful primary election victory on Tuesday.

“Governor Rauner has fought tirelessly to rebuild the Republican Party in Illinois and fight one party rule in Springfield, and I look forward to him leading the Republican ticket in November.”

In addition, Chairman Morrison congratulates the entire slate of statewide candidates on their success securing the Republican nomination Tuesday. Republican statewide candidates include: Erika Harold, candidate for Attorney General; Jim Dodge, candidate for Treasurer; Jason Helland, candidate for Secretary of State; and Darlene Senger, candidate for Comptroller.

In the wake of this primary election, Chairman Morrison echoes many of his Republican colleagues’ calls for unity, and encourages everyone to turn their focus on success in November.

“With the spirited primary election now behind us, it is important in the coming days that all of the Republican Party, from our elected officials to our candidates and our voters, come together and turn our focus on helping to reform our broken system of government. Not supporting one candidate also hurts each and every candidate on the ballot. In order to achieve reform we must elect Republicans up and down the ticket in November.”

“Let us keep in mind the importance of the upcoming remap of Illinois’ political districts, namely General Assembly and Congressional Districts,” added Chairman Morrison. “We must continue to work to end the unfair political advantage of one party rule of government. We need equal representation. When one party controls the political policies for 30 plus years we end up with our current fiscal mess.”
