Cook County Property Taxes Skyrocket
Democrats play the blame game
Another day in Cook County, another crushing tax increase. No matter how dire the economic and housing situation becomes, Cook County Democrats continue to raise taxes. The latest is a crippling new hike in property taxes across Cook County, in some neighborhoods as high as 46 percent.
“The arrogance of power on the part of the Democrats in Cook County has reached a tipping point,” said Cook County GOP Chairman Lee Roupas.
And even worse than the outlandish new levies on Cook County properties is the fact that the hardest hit neighborhoods are those in most need of tax relief. Blue collar neighborhoods on Chicago’s North, South and West side saw the highest increases.
“Democrats in Cook County cannot claim to be the Party of the lower and middle income families as they continue to tax them right out of their homes,” said Roupas. “Their irresponsible policies are devastating Chicago and Cook County residents.”
While average Cook County residents see huge increases in their property taxes, the most powerful Cook County Democrat politicians see almost no increases in their property taxes.
