Aaron Del Mar Elected Cook County Republican Party Chairman
Last night, the Cook County Republican Central Committee convened in Edison Park to elect a new chairman following the resignation of Sean Morrison. The committee overwhelmingly elected Aaron Del Mar of Palatine Township, who received over 85% of the weighted vote from all members. Del Mar previously served as chairman from 2012 to 2016 and is currently a State Central Committeeman for the 5th Congressional District. He was also the former co-chairman of the Illinois Republican Party.
"I am honored to be chosen by my peers to serve as the Cook County Chairman again," Del Mar said. "I look forward to making significant gains in Cook County and pushing back against the ultra-progressive administrations of Mayor Brandon Johnson and Toni Preckwinkle. I would like to thank Chairman Morrison for his hard work and dedication to the party for almost a decade and I thank him for his strong commitment to the Cook County Republican Party."
Del Mar will fulfill the one year remaining in Morrison's term and will be concentrating on recruiting candidates both countywide and for State House and Senate races. He plans to build a robust fundraising engine to support the party and candidates and work to turn out Republican voters in Cook County. Del Mar emphasized the importance of unity within the party and the need to present a strong, cohesive front to challenge the current administrations.
