Chicago, IL - The Cook County Republican Central Committee held its County Convention Wednesday night via video conferencing. Chairman Sean Morrison ran unopposed in his re-election to a third term at the helm of the party. The disappointment of not being able to meet in-person quickly gave way to the novelty of the first ever use of a video conferencing platform.
"It's unfortunate that we were not able to meet in-person, but these unprecedented times dictate that our health and safety come first," said Chairman Sean Morrison. The convention also featured more than a dozen new committee members from Chicago.
Chairman Morrison recognized and welcomed the new committeepersons elected to their post on March 17. They are as follows:
- Ward 1 - Richard Scumaci
- Ward 10 - Matt Nelson
- Ward 13 - David Krupa
- Ward 18 - Devin Jones
- Ward 20 - Matthew Pinna
- Ward 29 - Walter Adamczyk
- Ward 30 - Edward Karecki
- Ward 32 - Steve Boulton
- Ward 37 - George McKinley
- Ward 39 - Barry Bebart
- Ward 41 - Ammie Kessem
- Ward 45 - Kerri Urbanski
- Ward 48 - Ethan Slyder
The convention's main order of business was to elect a chairman for another two-year term which featured the re-election of current GOP Chairman Sean Morrison who was unopposed.
"I appreciate the opportunity to serve again as chairman of our party. It's been an honor to do so over the last four years and I'm humbled to be given your support to do so for one more term. I look forward to all of us working collectively to further our party's objectives in 2020 and beyond," Chairman Morrison concluded.
